Talent agencies serve to match talent with industry professionals who are looking to secure entertainment and services at their events. Historically, this has been termed as a “middle man” or representative who has a stable of talent to fill on-going events and positions. This type of agency cannot blossom overnight, but will take a lot of effort to start up, begin promoting and landing gigs for your performers and talent.

Step 1: Find Your Specialty
Choose a field to represent talent. So many unique talents exist, and there are many branches within each field, such as teen rappers or female country singers. Specializing in too many branches may spread you too thin. Choosing a specific group to focus on will give you an easier chance to start up and get going.

Step 3: Build Your Roster
Build up your talent roster. Look within local sources and audition to create the best team you can offer. Attempt to become the go-to source for your specific kind of talent. Your talent base is your strongest asset, so do not take the personal relationships with your artists lightly. They may end up performing for you for years to come, so treat them well.

Step 4: Market, Market, Market
Begin your marketing. Look for companies that regularly feature the live entertainment you offer. Connect with local corporations, restaurants, bars, theaters, community organizations and other groups that hire entertainment often. Rely on a CRM (customer relationship manager) software to organize all of your contacts, along with past and future gigs.

Step 5: Network, Network, Network
Embark on a strong networking and sales plans. Continue to target essential source for gigs within your community. Attend networking events and be visible within your local area. Keep up the pushes to find new connections and repeated gigs that occur regularly. Hire a social media manager to widen your reach online. Build a base of happy and loyal fans who want your services.

Step 6: Be The Source
Establish a name for yourself and be known in your local communities. Build your reputation as the “go-to” agency to enhance any event.
